Return to the Sea

Returning to the ocean is meant literally and metaphorically. Living abroad, I lost what inspired my art, the ocean. Over time, as I disidentified as a surfer, I became more aware of another world below the waves, just as precious and inspiring as the surface. Still very much in my heart, I’ve gained a new appreciation of this largely unexplored part of our world. Perhaps it is foresight, knowing that I will return to California that I’ve begun to create art after such a long absence. However, now the message is not simply one of beauty.
